My experience as a global public health professional has included teaching high schoolers to map air and water quality using balloons and GIS software, to evaluating malnutrition among farmers in the Philippines. Able to handle multiple assignments – both big chunks and small details – without loss of quality or perspective. Good at overcoming obstacles and thinking on my feet.
To summarise, I am a pharmaceutical scientist cum medical affairs expert by professional experience, who is passionately curious about research and innovation; Entrepreneur by thinking; Problem solver by mindset, and in love with science.
I hold 15+ years of rich experience in the pharmaceutical industry encompassing various facets of research and medical affairs such as handling of regulatory affairs of novel autologous cell therapy for cancer, publication writing, clinical research, scientific intelligence, and medical communication. My research work includes autoimmune skin disorder and the development of a polyherbal novel delivery system for its treatment and exploring the role of ergosterol in the parasite lifecycle.
By education, I hold a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Delhi, INDIA, and a post-graduate degree in biotechnology. My post-doctoral experience is from the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, INDIA. Currently working in the capacity of a Group Manager in the field of scientific communication, handling a team of 30+ scientists.

My name is Oyewusi Lawrence, a medical practitioner currently working with Partners In Health, Lesotho as the MDRTB Program lead/Senior MDRTB clinician. I have been working with PIH for about 6 years now and i have an extensive experience of working in a low-resource setting with high burden of TB and HIV.
In terms of educational status, i currently hold a Bsc. degree in Botany, from university of Ilorin in Nigeria. After which i earned a MBChB degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria. In addition, i also possess a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) from the university of Liverpool, England and finally, a masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the university of Zambia.
I have an extensive experience in the clinical management of drug-resistance tuberculosis, as i have been involve in a number of research studies in this field. I have served as the site principal investigator for the following studies:
- endTB observational study
- Pharmaco-kinetic study on 2nd line TB drugs and currently serving as:
- site principal investigator for the endTB clinical trial on all oral shorter regimen
- site principal investigator for all oral shorter regimen under operational research conditions
- site principal investigator for the STEM-TB (Strengthening Evaluation of Multi-drug Resistance Tuberculosis)
- Investigator in the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in the endTB clinical trial (Pandr-TB). I also have huge experience in the programmatic management and i have been leading the implementation of Global Fund grant as well as UNITAID grant with other smaller projects. I am seasoned result oriented individual, impossibility is not in my diary. I go all out to achieve the best with my team. One of my strengths lies in team work ability.
