This Opportunity:
The Natural Resource Facilities Hub is seeking a consummate professional to join us as a Senior Manager. As a senior-level professional, the Senior Manager will bring project management experience and technical acumen to both business development and project delivery in areas related to economic development, impact strategy, special purpose vehicle design and innovation, aligned particularly to sector experience in extractives, agriculture, climate and nature-based solutions. The Senior Manager will also contribute to Palladium Americas’ growth and impact around the world in these disciplines, as well as other related areas such as private sector engagement, women’s empowerment along diverse value chains, and leveraging nature as a driver for wealth in developing markets.
This Senior Manager will be part of our Natural Resource Facilities Hub, which, includes work around extractives, agriculture, nature-based solutions, inclusive growth strategies and private sector engagement as well as development. Staff in the firm work extensively and collaboratively with others in the company (including in other Practices/Portfolios and in other regions) to advance firm-level growth and impact goals; build relationships and visibility; develop innovative approaches and methodologies; and manage effective, dynamic teams.
The Senior Manager will support Palladium projects across the globe, financed by private and public sector investors to help structure and implement innovative projects that contribute to our diversification and “beyond aid” strategic objectives.
The Senior Manager will also lead business development efforts, including strategic planning, proposal development, partnering, networking and recruitment.
Experienced Senior Managers will have opportunities to support other units within the firm in our collaborative and agile environment, such as the Economic Growth Community of Practice, Palladium Impact Capital, and the Climate, Environment, and Natural Resource (CENR) Practice. Future careers within the firm could be in any department or subject area; typically, Senior Managers become thought leaders, proposal champions, and Project Directors as they gain experience; they also may have opportunities to fill short- and long-term assignments overseas.
The position will entail overseas travel, dependent on COVID-19 restrictions and safety/security considerations

The position is based in Palladium’s Washington, D.C. office. Remote work options on Eastern Standard Time hours may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Reporting and Supervision:
The role reports to the Director of the Natural Resource Facilities Hub. As needed, the role also may support other portfolios within Palladium lending expertise on extractives, sustainable supply chains, inclusive growth strategies, private sector engagement, and other themes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management
For assigned projects, the Senior Manager will serve as part of the Project Management Unit (PMU) that also includes a Project Director, Project Associates, and Contributing Analysts. The PMU is responsible for the management and administration of projects. The Senior Manager is responsible for:
Leading and managing project teams
Leading the proposal writing, project planning, project implementation and project reporting
Identifying partners and subcontractors to ensure high quality delivery of results
Working with partner organizations (such as subcontractors) on the contractually compliant delivery of agreed inputs and achievement of agreed outputs and outcomes
Business Development
The Senior Manager will lead/contribute to work relating to strategic growth planning and opportunity identification as well as specific proposal efforts. The Senior Manager will:
Lead the identification, assessment, and pursuit of new business opportunities, as well as the analysis of our prospects for winning opportunities
Lead the preparation of technical proposals principally targeting private sector and blended finance opportunities in the extractives space based on best practices applied to specific country contexts
Technical Work
The Senior Manager will lead one or more projects by managing the preparation of reports, assessments, tools, and strategies. For example, the Senior Manager may:
Lead the development of short-term inputs and/or consultancy assignments on topics such as extractives, food and agriculture, inclusive business models, capital mobilization, circular economy, climate, and natural resources management
Lead technical input into the design, planning and delivery of social and environmental impact initiatives that engage private companies, impact funders or development organizations
Provide support to monitoring and quality-assuring Palladium’s services
Contribute to research, analysis and publication of technical reports, case studies, policy/program approaches, and results summaries on themes related to extractives, economic development, food and agriculture, circular economy, climate, and natural resources management in emerging markets
Identify, build, and maintain relationships with partners and consultants that can provide technical expertise to Palladium-managed projects
Stay current on trends and tendencies in the extractives industry and related sectors to ensure Palladium’s readiness for business opportunities
Work with others in the Natural Resource Facilities Hub to promote and build Palladium’s technical capability, especially regarding the extractives industry and inclusive growth solutions
Key Competencies Required:
Senior-level experience in a client-facing management role on large, private sector projects, especially relating to the extractives industry
Preference for experience managing teams across geographies
Proven experience in or on emerging market issues and/or contexts
Experience leading business development efforts
Strong ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks (ideally in all the areas of the job description) and/or complex projects/assignments as demonstrated by experience to date
Excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by speaking engagements and/or written documents produced
Financial acumen and the ability to generate and analyze financial reports and forecasts using Excel and other financial reporting/forecasting systems as demonstrated by experience
Fluency in English
Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated commitment to encourage diversity, inclusion, and equity in teams and programs
Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:
Senior-level experience working in the extractives industry and an understanding of how to achieve change with key stakeholders
Proven ability to apply and adapt proven models and approaches to catalyzing enduring and inclusive economic growth in emerging markets
Experience with conceptualizing and writing technical proposals and reports for private sector clients as well as international donors, including both PowerPoint and text documents
Experience with conceptualizing and delivering presentations to small and large groups (over 30 individuals), both in-person and virtually
Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Spanish or French
