Background Reporting directly to the RD Specialist, Strategic Partnerships & Emergency Response, the RD intern will support the Institutional Advancement department – a team that seeks to diversify and increase funding from a variety of private and public donors globally.
Purpose Under the guidance of the RD Specialist, Strategic Partnerships & Emergency Response, the RD intern will support fundraising and communication efforts across the department to help the organization’s global programs and mobilize resources for frontline health workers and first responders globally. S/he will have the opportunity to support activities across the department and gain insight into emergency response, humanitarian aid, transition and recovery, as well as global health and development.
Main Responsibilities The tasks listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
Learn about our overall corporate donor strategy including fundraising, stewardship, communication and outreach
Support the RD Specialist, Strategic Partnerships & Emergency Response in the development and management of their portfolio, including developing and gathering outreach and follow-up materials, managing calendar, conducting research, and maintaining online files
Help with the management of corporate fundraising during an Emergency Response. This may include drafting emails from Situation Reports, managing emergency materials, updating proposals, and other tasks as deemed necessary
Learn about and assist with our volunteer partnerships and engagement strategy including communication, outreach, and maintaining a detailed engagement database
Learn how to perform corporate prospect research and maintain a research database. This includes creating a research guide, list of relevant sources, and updating templates, among other tasks
Learn about donor reporting and help write and/or edit reporting documents for online fundraising platforms
Learn the fundamentals of the Raiser’s Edge database system
Attend virtual meetings as available and necessary with department and cross-departmental staff
Requirements Experience
Demonstrated interest in public health and/or international development.
Previous work experience in a professional office setting providing administrative support or related work duties.
Previous experience with data and information management a plus.
Previous experience and knowledge related to program design and proposal development preferred.
Competency
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills and capacity to coordinate work across multiple projects
Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Other
Fluency in written and spoken English and excellent English writing skills is essential
Spanish, French, Arabic skills a plus
