Public Health England (PHE) is an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care providing; strategic leadership, research, advice, and support for Government, local authorities, and the NHS in protecting and improving the nation’s health.
It was set up on 1 April 2013 as an operationally autonomous executive agency of the Department of Health. Our mission is to protect and improve the nation’s health and to address inequalities through working with national and local government, the NHS, industry, and the voluntary and community sector.
