My name is Dr. Sutopa Talukdar.I am a Bangladeshi citizen, a licensed doctor in Bangladesh and a PhD graduate from  Mahidol University, Thailand. I have passed my MBBS ( Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, Karnataka, India. Following my MBBS degree I completed the course of DTM&H (Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene), MCTM (Masters in Clinical Tropical Medicine) and a Ph.D. in Clinical Tropical Medicine from Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. While attending my courses in Thailand I have also completed several online courses by Johns Hopkins University on Epidemiology in Public Health, Biostatistics, Clinical trials and surveys at coursera.org. At Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, in India I was educated and trained intensively in classrooms, laboratories and hospital wards as required by the subject. The hospitals where I gained my knowledge and experience as a medical student and medical intern involved both private and Government hospitals, because of which my exposure to patient care were extensive. My 1 year internship involved diagnosis, management, assist in surgical procedures and follow up of patients visiting the outpatient departments and admitted to the wards in medicine, surgery, OBGYN, pediatrics, community medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology. I have a good experience in clinical research for 5 years during Ph.D. work in Thailand. While working for my clinical prospective research in Thailand I received training for Ethical issues concerning human subjects in Clinical trials and other study types, research regulation, protocols and guidelines, presentation of critical appraisal of research papers and topic reviews. I was also trained for conceptual and practical application of biostatistics which were integral part of the research methodology. For my Ph.D. program I worked on thesis regarding “Predictors of plasma leakage among dengue patients in Thailand: a plasma-leak score analysis”. My aim was to find predictors that can be evaluated in resource limited set up,. For my prospective study I did extensive literature review on my topic and communicated effectively with patients, their families, nurses and staff at the Bangkok Hospital of Tropical medicine, which eventually helped me obtain authentic and quality information. I assured safety & confidentiality of the patients as a priority and regularly updated my advisory team on the progress. I composed necessary documents such as Case record form, Informed consent, Participant information sheet which were then approved by the Ethics Committee of Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. I monitored progress of recruited patients by collecting clinical and laboratory data on a daily basis from start to end of treatment and two weeks after discharge from hospital during follow-up visit. My thesis has  given me the opportunity to work with Microsoft office software such as power point for presentations,  Microsoft  Excel where I entered data, Microsoft word for my thesis writing as per format and analyzed data with SPSS. I checked the accuracy of data collected on daily basis. I am organized and can handle multiple tasks with accurate time management, these skills have enabled successful completion of my research which has been published by peer reviewed International journal PLOS ONE on July 29h 2021https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0255358 . During my course I have been always been interested to remain up to date with my work and new studies related to my thesis topic. My work in Ph.D. has encouraged to learn more and contribute to medical healthcare via my participation in research projects in my career. As mentioned before, I am a Bangladeshi citizen and belong to a very small and yet developing town in Bangladesh. But with my parent’s support I was able to pursue my schooling in a  boarding school in India following which a medical education and internship in India as well. My further education was completed in Thailand. Via my experiences in different countries, I am able to work, adjust and communicate well with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds and I am very comfortable to work with a team and independently as well. I am also willing, eager to work beyond job hours and travel when required.   I have scored 8 on Academic IELTS exams held in 2013 and 2020, therefore I am fluent in oral and written English.
