Project Overview:
The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP).
Role Overview:
The Worker Support Coordinator will provide support to Approved Employers (AEs), in partnership with key internal and community stakeholders in the provision of worker support. The role will provide relevant information, capacity building support, advice, and direct assistance, where applicable, to enable Approved Employers to effectively discharge their lead worker welfare responsibilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to assist AEs in their lead delivery of support to employees
Support to AEs in the management/response of issues including monitoring and reporting of critical incidents
Facilitate joint forums with relevant stakeholders to address worker support issues and interventions around cultural, language or other diverse support needs
Provide AEs with relevant information, advice, and support to assist workers access to medical, allied and emergency health services when required
Respond to reported worker welfare concerns and support resolution of conflicts
Provide inputs as required into monitoring and evaluation activities and contribute to continuous improvement
Be available for rostered shifts on the 24-7 Support Line
Required Qualifications:
Qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in a similar role
High level relationship management skills, including the ability to negotiate for outcomes that are beneficial to clients and communities
Strong decision-making, professional judgement, risk management, and ability to work autonomously
Demonstrated cultural competency, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated experience in using communications strategically for advocacy purposes and ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment
Driver’s license and willingness to drive to regional locations
Flexibility to undertake travel, including after hours and weekends

The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to 30 June 2023. This is a Brisbane based role with options for flexible working. Candidates who are willing to relocate for the position must do so at their own expense.
