This Opportunity:
The Tax Compliance Manager oversees the tax compliance and associated financial management of the US company, subsidiaries, and regionally funded operations. This position provides management of tax filing and accounting operations, compliance, and reporting, ensuring adherence to international tax reporting, and advising on tax issues. The Tax Compliance Manager will liaise with Palladium’s external accountants as well as internal teams to ensure successful completion of all international, local, state, and federal filings. This person will research and collaborate with staff across the organization to provide insight on and develop global tax solutions and best practices. Reporting and Supervision:
The role will report directly to the Assistant Controller
The role will be required to analyze tax and the associated accounting entries and make sound recommendations to the Assistant Controller and the business partners
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the of the Tax Compliance Manager is to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations, reporting and filings for the US region including compliance for international subsidiaries and branches.
The position will:
Lead all tax, tax compliance and associated accounting activities
Work with external tax consultants and ensure all US local, state and federal tax forms and payments are remitted timely and accurately
Be responsible for sales and use, unclaimed property and personal property tax filings
Be responsible for all international subsidiary and branch “in-country” compliance including (but not limited to) corporate filings, payroll and other taxes. Create and maintain a central portal for tax documentation
Stay apprised of all the local, state and federal tax laws and US Government and business regulations that affect the US company and ensure that the company operates within the proper parameters
Research and resolve tax notices received from local, state and federal agencies in a timely manner
Track and actively follow up with Payroll and ADP to resolve payroll tax discrepancies
Support the global finance team on issues such as transfer pricing, VAT, GST and other international taxes
Keep an up-to-date tax calendar for all tax compliance responsibilities
Key Competencies Required:
Certified Public Accountant or equivalent qualification
Professional experience with provable leadership skills and the ability to pivot between system, process and technical detail to strategy development and solving high-level management issues
Experience is required in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Prior experience includes demonstrable success in the following: tax and other compliance, International and
Intercompany accounting, and other statutory financial filings
Professional delegating and organizational skills, understanding how to make the supervised accounting and financial disciplines work in harmony and be able to generate suitable reporting to leadership, to support management decisions while helping to ensure tax compliance under the guidance of the Assistant Controller
Ability to liaise closely with corporate and regional leadership, senior managers, project teams, other employees, and external service providers
International experience, preferably on overseas projects and teams
Strong numerical proficiency, first class problem-solving skills and excellent use of logic
Ability to resolve complex issues, build solid relationships and deliver outcomes
Strong analytical, planning, and financial management skills coupled with the ability to thrive under pressure and balance several competing projects at once
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required
Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant field, Master’s degree preferred
Experience is preferred in IFRS, and strongly preferred in Government accounting regulations, CAS, FAR (Federal acquisition regulations)
