We are seeking to make an appointment of a Research Fellow in Health Services Research and Policy who will work on a recently awarded NIHR PRP study Adverse medical incidents and outcomes in the NHS: understanding prevalence, patients’ perspectives and factors that influence subsequent actions. The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of adverse incidents experienced amongst the general population and factors that affect decision-making in relation to future action. The post-holder will be required to be familiar with qualitative research methods and to manage their own academic research, research governance and administrative activities and co-ordinate work to meet deadlines.
There is an expectation that the post-holder will contribute as required to the wider academic activities of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy (to include teaching, student mentoring or supervision, and assessment) and to participate in appropriate training and quality assurance processes for such roles.
Applicants should have a Masters degree in a relevant social science, health policy, health services research subject or equivalent research experience; experience of literature review and conducting and publishing qualitative research.
The post holder will be based in London. The post is available on a full-time basis for a fixed term of 15 months from 1 April 2021. Salary will be on the LSHTM Academic Pathway Scale at Grade 6, £40,011-£40,826 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. In addition to this there are discretionary ‘Director’s Days’. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
