Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology

An opportunity has arisen in the LSHTM Electronic Health Records research group within the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology for a medical statistician or epidemiologist to work on a combination of exciting ongoing research collaborations.
First is a collaboration with the Epidemiology group at GlaxoSmithKline, with which we have established a methodological partnership, aimed at developing and applying cutting edge pharmacoepidemiology methods to enable better evaluation of the benefits and harms of medications, using routine healthcare data
Second is a collaboration with the Evidence Based Medicine Data Lab based at Oxford, with which we have rapidly established a collaborative research platform (OpenSAFELY), specifically to answer urgent research questions emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The successful candidate is expected to have direct experience of:
Conducting independent research using routinely collected electronic health records
Adapting or developing pharmacoepidemiology methodology innovations for use with UK based electronic health records
The successful candidate will also have completed or be within 3 months of anticipated completion of a PhD in medical statistics or epidemiology. Relevant experience in writing analytic code in Stata, R and Python and experience using git/github for version control and collaborative working is essential for this post. The post is full time and fixed-term until 30 November 2022. The salary will be on the Academic pathways Grade 6 in the range £40,011 – £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary ‘Director’s Days’. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
