We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary team at LSHTM working on environment, agriculture, trade, nutrition and health. The Research Assistant / Research Fellow will contribute broadly to a range of research activities but will work specifically on the AMPHoRA research project which is exploring methods of reducing air pollution from agriculture in the UK. Responsibilities of the post will include summarising current UK dietary patterns across different population groups, using historical consumption trends to predict future diets and working with project partners to define various future food consumption scenarios for the UK. The post holder will also use data on food trade to explore the implications of changing diets for agriculture in the UK.
The post holder will hold an MSc (Research Assistant) or PhD (Research Fellow) in a relevant discipline (including Nutrition, Epidemiology, Public Health or Statistics), and will have experience of creating, managing and analysing large and complex datasets related to human health, food consumption or nutrition. They will have demonstrated excellent statistical and modelling skills in Excel, Stata or R, and will be able to work successfully with partners in other academic disciplines. Prior experience of working with time-series food consumption or nutrition data and/or experience of forecasting models would be an advantage. Further Particulars are included in the Job description.
The post is full time (or at 0.8fte) and fixed-term for 12 months, available immediately.
The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 5 scale in the range £34,854 – £40,011 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting) or Grade 6 in the range £40,011- £40,826 (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
