The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology (IDE) conducts research on the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases of public health importance. It also conducts research on maternal and neonatal health. Work is carried out in low-, middle- and high-income countries, including the United Kingdom.

The main purpose of this post is to provide efficient administrative, logistical and financial support across two distinct research portfolios: A group of projects led by LSHTM scientists within IDE who are based at KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) in Kenya, and the UK-Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) programme. The post-holder will develop a good understanding of the funder terms and conditions for the projects and programme, providing sound advice and ensuring compliance with these and the School’s policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing proactive administrative, financial, operational and strategic planning support in Higher Education (or similar environment) for complex research projects, including with overseas collaborators, and proven ability to monitor and manage a budget, costings, projections and financial reports. You will have excellent IT skills (e.g. MS Word and Excel), including experience of management information systems, databases, and financial reporting tools. We will consider applicants interested in a full-time (1.0 FTE, 35 hours per week) role ‘“ or two applicants for a part-time (0.4 ‘“ 0.6 FTE each) role. The post is fixed-term until 31 December 2021 with possibility to extend depending on funding.

The salary will be on the PSP scale, Grade 5 in the range £34,854 – £40,011 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary ‘Director’s Days’. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
