Position Title:  Grants Analyst, Temporary
Reports to: Finance Grant Manager
Location: Boston, MA


Position Overview


The Grants Analyst will support the Finance Grant Manager with reporting and compliance aspects of the Community Tracing Collaborative (CTC) work with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The Grants Analyst will be part of the PIH Boston Grants Management and Compliance team, and will work closely with the Finance Grant Manager for the CTC project.


The Grants Analyst must understand the details and overall strategy of CTC project, and the financial implications of the necessary human, financial, and logistical resources required to implement the project. The Grants Analyst will be responsible for reviewing large data sets, working extensively in spreadsheets, and will therefore need meticulous attention to detail, a familiarity with Excel formulas and functions (IF statements, lookups, pivot tables), and a clear communication style.


The Grants Analyst may coordinate with CTC management, PIH Finance and Human Resources to ensure compliance with grant requirements and in particular that all financial backup documentation and reporting requirements are met. 


Specific Responsibilities


  • Support the Finance Manager with reporting for the MA CTC project.  This includes daily time reporting and analysis, and other financial or non-financial systems, to support with contractual compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the application of PIH policies and procedures through analyzing reporting on project hours, schedules, time reports and other supporting schedules 
  • Coordinating with Finance Grant Manager to identify, monitor, and communicate emerging issues
  • Work with Finance Grant Manager to provide ad hoc support to CTC Staff
  • Provide any ad hoc reports required by the Finance Grant Manager
  • Support with audits and internal controls procedures including appropriate filing of backup financial documentation





  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting
  • An intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, pivot tables)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in project financial management
  • Grants management experience
  • Experience in assisting with budgeting and reporting
  • Accuracy and an attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills to speak accurately and succinctly to large data sets
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country
  • Interest in humanitarian work or public health strongly desirable
