The USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project seeks short-term consultants to serve as global health story writers. GHSC-PSM is the primary vehicle through which USAID 1) procures and provides health commodities, 2) provides technical assistance to improve partner countries’ management of the supply chain, and 3) collaborates with key international stakeholders to support global health initiatives. The project works with USAID to supply health commodities for HIV/AIDS, malaria, family planning/reproductive health (FPRH), maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), COVID-19, cross-cutting activities across health areas, and strengthening health care systems. The project is working to build its bench of consultants, aiming to identify individuals with key subject matter expertise and fluency in English, French Portuguese, and Spanish.
The consultant will support the Knowledge Management and Communications (KMC) team in the United States and project offices in more than 30 countries worldwide. The writer will engage with project staff to develop content to document and share project successes, lessons learned, research and techniques to improve global health supply chain management.
The consultant will be responsible for:
Coordinating with appropriate health area communications specialists and country points of contact to develop written story content for products including information for the GHSC-PSM website, blogs /articles , success stories , technical briefs , photo essays , conference a bstracts, presentations , and social media .
Facilitating remote interviews with project staff and subject matter experts .
Reviewing relevant documents and reports to demonstrate activity successes .
Incorporating feedback into products .
Writing and editing story narratives gleaning information from technical experts , existing research , and project activitie s .

Location of Assignment: Remote.
Supervision of Consultant: Consultants will report to the KMC Manager and coordinate with an assigned health area communications specialist.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, global health, international relations, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Subject matter expertise in public health supply chain management, HIV/AIDS, malaria, FP/RH and/or MNCH strongly preferred .
A minimum of two years of experience , preferred in a global health setting .
Previous writing samples are required.
Demonstrated experience working in international journalism for organizations such as VOA, NPR, Thompson Reuters, BBC, DEVEX or working for USAID or other global donors and NGOs.
Familiarity with global health policy and programs is strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required .
French and/or Portuguese language proficiency preferred. Excellent attention to detail and grammar .
Proficient in MS Office suite and Google Docs.
