About our HLC Project – Through the Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC) program, Palladium provides high quality, multifaceted, flexible, and responsive project management, and humanitarian supply chain solutions in support of the Commonwealth of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Humanitarian Emergency Relief activities.

About the Role – Women, children and people with disabilities are often the most exposed to adverse risks resultant from disasters, losing income and opportunities and facing increased risk of sexual and gender-based violence during crises. The Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Officer will provide technical implementation and administrative support to the GEDSI Senior Officer to ensure that gender and disability, social inclusion and protection, and diversity practices are embedded across the Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC). Disability inclusion, gender and protection are the thematic priorities that are central to the efficacy of Australia’s humanitarian programming, in which the HLC team will continue to play a leading role in implementing. The GEDSI Officer will support the empowerment of people with disabilities to access humanitarian assistance on an equal basis and advance gender equality, promoting the empowerment of women and girls throughout the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

The GEDSI Officer will support the outcomes as articulated in the HLC GEDSI Action Plan, and the program’s annual plans, which are informed by Palladium’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
This role is part time (2 days per week) and initially available until the June 2023 with the potential for extension with the HLC contract.

Primary Responsibilities:
GEDSI Action Plan and Strategy Implementation
Provide implementation support to the Senior GEDSI Officer for the roll out of HLC’s GEDSI Action Plan and Strategy Implementation
Ensure that the GEDSI Action Plan is kept up to date and reflects all adaptations and amendments as it is carried out
Provide practical implementation support for the roll out of the HLC GEDSI Strategy, as guided and directed by the Senior GEDSI Officer
Implement core GEDSI policies and procedures for the delivery of Humanitarian Aid abroad as well as for the day-to-day operations of the HLC in Australia
Support the review of project documents, including reports, bids, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and others to ensure they reflect and comply with the Program’s GEDSI policies and standards;
Support the development of GEDSI and safeguards indicators for the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework;
Relationship management
Support the Senior GEDSI Officer to provide relevant information to team members and stakeholders to ensure GEDSI issues are embedded into program decision making and implementation.
Support the embedding of GEDSI practices in both the technical delivery and daily program management of the HLC contract.
Support DFAT and client requests in a timely and professional manner, as required.
Support the review of the GEDSI Action Plan and Strategy Implementation and also HLC´s approaches to cross cutting issues such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, as required.

Stakeholder development and training
Assist in the delivery of training to promote GEDSI practices to clients, HLC staff, contractors, suppliers and representatives from our global stakeholders.
Support the facilitation of training and knowledge sharing activities as required

Teamwork
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly across a range of cross cultures.
Ensure up-to-date information is effectively communicated across all program teams.
Participate in team activities and meetings demonstrating respect and consideration for individual experience and expertise.
Engage in continuous learning and contribute positively to a collaborative and respectful working environment aligned with the culture and values of Palladium and HLC.
Establish and sustain a stakeholder network for GEDSI and safeguards in HLC’s project pillars;
Additional requirements:
In addition to the above, any and all other duties and responsibilities are to be performed as required and consistent with this role.
This role may require some work outside of regular hours.
Some interstate and international travel may be required.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience, Skills & Attributes
Demonstrated capacity to support the implementation of good GEDSI practice across organisations and /or projects.
Demonstrated interest in, and passion for, GEDSI principles, approaches and initiatives
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills working with internal and external stakeholders, ideally in cross-cultural contexts.
Ability to support the application of inclusive and diversity initiatives
Strong written and oral communication skills with diverse groups of people.
Ability to adapt and work with different teams with varying degrees of understanding of inclusion and diversity.
Ability to handle multiple projects and issues simultaneously and to prioritise workloads.
Knowledge and demonstrated experience in:
Knowledge and understanding of protection in the International Development space and implementation of GEDSI and general safeguarding techniques
Demonstrated expertise working with domestic and international communities with regards to diverse SOGIESC, disability, youth, gender equality, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and women’s empowerment issues.
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams as well as with external stakeholders such as government (DFAT).
Understanding of and commitment to EEO, child protection and privacy principles Qualifications.
Qualifications:
Tertiary degree in international development, Inclusion, community services, social work, and/or some relevant professional experience.
