Project Overview and Role:
The Director of
Communications will lead the implementation of the Communications Plan,
Branding and Marking plan, and related project communications tools for the Trade
Central Asia Activity and disseminate these tools to inform key audiences as
well as the client of project progress and successes. Activities
performed will cover Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and
Uzbekistan.
Duration: The Trade Central Asia Activity is
projected for 5 years
Location: Almaty, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Tashkent or Ashgabat
Reports
to: Chief of Party
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees communications for project activities, and represents the project to USAID, stakeholders and public.
- Develops and drives project’s communications strategy and messages.
- Manages internal communications and external media relations including communications firms and partner organizations.
- Makes sure the project is implemented according to USAID branding and marking strategy/plan.
- Trains project staff in implementing compliant project communications strategy.
- Supports development of behavior change communication materials through multiple channels including video, radio, advertisements, information campaigns and social media.
- Works closely with Objective Leads and partners on the outreach, design, and event coordination of regional and national policy forum events.
- Oversees the design and roll out of all tools to effectively communicate project activities and results, (i.e. website, videos, visual images, social media messages, press releases, flyers, etc.).
- Develops compliant reports and publications such as project deliverables, success stories, newsletters, press releases, email announcements, planned publications, on-line, intranet, video, special projects, and assignments.
- Maintaining a close and collaborative relationship with USAID and other external teams on all outreach and communications efforts
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced educational background or experience in public relations, communications, or related field.
- Fluency in English and Russian.
- Strong writing and public speaking skills in English and Russian, with a proven record of successful communication and reporting.
- Prior experience in communications for donor funded projects; USAID experience preferred.
- Proven expertise in support of activities of a similar context.
- Strong leadership, administrative, management, presentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform at a high level and apply diplomacy skills with a wide range of stakeholders (i.e., national, provincial, private sector, and NGOs).
