Position Title: Curriculum Specialist

Reports to: Provost for Academic Affairs and Research

Location: Remote; Haiti

Employment Type: Full-time, Temporary (6 months with possibility to extend)

 

Position Overview:

The Curriculum Specialist at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE): Haiti is responsible for creating detailed, engaging, rigorous program and course curricula, high quality educational resources and student learning assessment instruments. Liaises with subject matter experts, developing robust academic courses through the alignment of program and course objectives, student learning outcomes, assignments, and instructional materials. This position requires an understanding and application of adult learning theory.

 

The ideal candidate should be passionate about higher education and aware of how digital technology has reshaped education. Outstanding candidates have strong project management abilities, and organizational, technical writing, research, and communication skills. If role is extended, candidate must be willing to relocate to Haiti.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts online research and collaborates with educators, subject matter experts, policymakers, and other professionals to develop quality curricula and learning resources
  • Establishes feasible timeframes to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the curriculum.
  • Creates course syllabi that includes stimulating instructional content and recommends interesting additional resources (in French)
  • Develops a range of digital resources to optimize classroom learning and ensure ongoing learning outside of formal settings
  • Creates supplementary teacher and student guides, as well as resource packs
  • Expands the UGHE-Haiti network of curriculum designers, educators, and other professionals.
  • Collects feedback from students, professors, and other stakeholders
  • Monitors student progress and makes relevant changes to curricula
  • Collaborates with other curriculum and course designers, graphic designers, and web designers to create new learning resources
  • Develops tests, exams, and other formal and informal assessments to gauge student learning

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education or a related discipline requires, Doctoral degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design (face to face and online).
  • Strong digital research skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with international stakeholders.
  • Outstanding networking and interpersonal abilities; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country.
  • Must be fluent in French, Haitian Creole, and English.
  • 5+ years of experience living and working in a low resource setting, preferably in Haiti.

 

 Preferred:

  • Interest in teaching coursework at the master’s level.
  • Experience writing healthcare-related curriculum.
  • Interest in social justice.
