Have extensive practical experience of complex analytical techniques in common use for the diagnosis of inherited metabolic disorders including experience in GC-MS and tandem MS and in the establishment and validation of new MS based procedures.
Have knowledge of inherited metabolic disorders with particular emphasis of the biochemical diagnosis.
Demonstrate the ability to provide the scientific knowledge and clinical expertise in inherited metabolic disorders and in paediatric chemical pathology/biochemical genetics required for this post according to the standards set by appropriate statutory bodies.
Demonstrate a high level of verbal and non-verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with Patients/Parents, colleagues, hospital management, other hospital staff and stakeholder from other institutions
Demonstrate leadership and team management skills including the ability to manage his/her staff and service and work with multi-disciplinary team members.
Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organising skills including awareness of resource management
Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the current governance structures and anticipated changes with the establishment. Demonstrate evidence of computer skills.
Applicants ideally registered with GMC and have completed FRCPath (by examination) with CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training), or be within 6 months of CCT completion, OR
Hold GMC registration and on the specialist register in Chemical Pathology (EU Quals or CESR Route)
