Position Title:  Business Development Officer

Reports to: Director, Public Sector Partnerships

Location: Boston, MA; Flexible

Employment Type: Full Time

Position Overview:

The position will lead in business development efforts with government funding partners in support of PIH programming both internationally. The role includes: gathering and analyzing business intelligence; leading and supporting proposal development, including writing; and supporting grant launch and transition to award management. The position portfolio includes support to PIH’s care delivery country sites.

Responsibilities:

Proposal Development (50%)

• Manage and support the development of single-site and multi-site proposals in response to unsolicited and solicited opportunities in coordination with clinical care delivery teams.
• Provide advice based on knowledge and analysis of public sector donor interests and alignment with PIH programming.
• Coordinate the development of the application components, formulate production schedules, consolidate material and reviews, and lead writing and copy-editing in line with donor guidelines and requirements.
• Lead in the assembling and submission of final proposal packages, serve as point of contact for donors on bid status, and lead award launch and after action review processes. 
• Provide support to other team portfolio fundraising efforts, special projects, and other themes when needed.

Intelligence Gathering, Analysis and Planning (30%)

• Leadresearch and prospecting efforts to identify forecasted and active opportunities, interpreting information, summarizing opportunities, and making recommendations.
• Participate in meetings and actively coordinate with site clinical and partnership team members to stay abreast of their evolving needs, interests, and innovations.
• Support the review of opportunities with team leadership and complete internal assessment processes in collaboration with department and site leads.
• Contribute to pipeline planning exercises to meet fundraising goals.

Business Development Support (20%)

• Lead tracking and knowledge management for all efforts within PIH dedicated systems and portals, and support the development of new business development tools, systems, and policies related to restricted funding.
• Support the dissemination of knowledge and capacity building activities with colleagues and partner organizations through training, posting resources, communications, etc.
• Represent PIH at external conferences and donor/partner meetings, and accompany PIH technical and program leads at donor/partner meetings; complete contact reports and keep profiles updated.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Prior education and/or experience preferred in public health, health care management, international development, or public policy.
• At least 3-5 years ofgrant writing experience and demonstrated track record with government funding partners, such as the Global Fund, USAID, CDC, and PEPFAR.
• Experience and interest in global health, domestic health, and/or social justice strongly desirable.
• Familiarity with restricted proposal and grant management design tools and processes strongly preferred.
• Superlative organizational skills; ability to manage complex projects from creation to completion, plan and prioritize multiple projects, and coordinate teams to meet deadlines.
• Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries.
• International work experience a plus.
• Willingness to undertake limited domestic and international travel as needed.
• Ability to read and write in Spanish strongly preferred.
