Position Overview

The Communications and Digital Media Associate, Nothing But Nets will partner with the Officer, Communications and Digital Media to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the Nothing But Nets Campaign.

She/he/they provide communications support to deliver on the campaign’s brand, advocacy, donor, and partnership objectives.

We seek someone who is high energy, has excellent organizational and communication skills, and the experience and passion to work across a diverse communications portfolio. A successful Associate will value close collaboration with Team members but will also be self-motivated and able to work independently.

This position is an integral part of a supportive and close-knit team devoted to crafting and delivering best-in-class communications to further the campaign’s goal of protecting children and families throughout Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean from malaria.

Working Relationships

The Communications and Digital Media Associate, Nothing But Nets reports to the Officer, Communications and Digital Media, Nothing But Nets. This position works closely with team members across the Nothing But Nets portfolio to include team members responsible for global health, advocacy, partnerships, and development.

Essential Functions

Support the implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the campaign’s brand, advocacy, donor, and partner objectives

Support the development and execution of the campaign’s digital strategy across social media, website, email, and video

Create, edit and post/share/develop content across Nothing But Nets’ social media networks and website

Create, edit, and manage communication and outreach via email and text

Work to expand and maintain an active and engaged email and text supporter, donor, partner list. Responsibilities include drafting and coding emails, creating targeted distribution groups, creating online forms, landing pages or advocacy alerts, reporting on metrics, and executing paid acquisition campaigns

Assist Communications Officer with outreach and engagement of media/press and influencers, including conducting press outreach, writing op-eds, press releases, press kits, talking points and blog posts

Assist the Communications Officer in developing new digital strategies to increase online reach and engagement, traffic, and action rates

Organize and assist with the curation of storytelling assets (video, photos, champion, and beneficiaries’ stories) from Nothing But Nets impact countries

Attend, support, and cover live and virtual events

Assist with the research and development of communications metrics and reporting.

Monitor and share with team key strategic communications and digital industry standards and trends

Selection Criteria

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in communications and digital media, in publishing or media outlet, at a PR agency, or NGO setting

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, International Relations or related field preferred

Familiarity with global humanitarian issues, global health challenges and/or malaria preferred

Experience maintaining and managing organizational social networking accounts in coordination with campaign online communications and strategy (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube etc.)

Proficiency with email marketing platforms (e.g., EveryAction, Campaign Monitor, Pardot, or similar tools), CRM (Salesforce preferred), and CMS platforms (Dato or WordPress preferred)

Experience writing press releases, op-eds, and editorial content for a brand, organization, or thought leader

Experience with HTML, CSS, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps strongly preferred

Experience producing and editing video content preferred

Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines

Ability to work independently and within a team to identify, explore and implement creative communications initiatives

Strong skills working in teams and across many types of organizations — team-oriented; problem solver; relationship-builder; and strong inter-personal skills
