The UK Public Health Rapid Support Team
We are seeking an outstanding Assistant Professor to develop and support the management and implementation of the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team’s (UK-PHRST) Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) approach and lead on the UK-PHRST’s high quality research and capacity development activity around learning. The UK-Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) is co-led by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Public Health England (PHE), funded by UK government Overseas Development Aid with a triple remit of response, research and capacity development for outbreaks in low and middle income countries.
The post holder will work with UK-PHRST colleagues as well as key international, academic and Her Majesty’s Government (HMG) partners.
The post-holder’s work will focus on the research and capacity development remits of the UK-PHRST. Key responsibilities will include managing the Programme’s MEL framework contributing to building an innovative approach to evaluation and learning across the UK-PHRST as well as across the wider Global Health Sector. The post holder will support staff throughout the UK-PHRST in developing programmatic and project level MEL frameworks and lead on academic research focused on Learning and Evaluation in Global Public Health and Outbreak Response.
The successful candidate will need a doctoral degree in a relevant field and expertise in evaluation methods and study design, synthesis and reviews, research transparency initiatives and evidence uptake and use. Further particulars are included in the Job description.
Though based in London at LSHTM, the post may involve some travel to support operational research and capacity development.
The post is full time and fixed-term until 31 March 2022.
The salary will be on the Academic salary scale Grade 7 in the range £46,704 to £53,465 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary ‘Director’s Days’. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
