Something About Company

The Robert Koch Institute is the public health institute for Germany. Our goal is to protect the population from disease and to improve their health. Every day, 1,100 people from 90 different professions work and research on this at the RKI.

We study disease and health at all levels: from viruses in the body’s cells to obesity in the population.RKI scientists collect data on non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and cancer, infectious diseases, and (new) biological dangers. Based on this, we develop specific recommendations and prevention concepts. Our work rests on two pillars: research that provides data for decision-making, and independent, reliable advice to the professional public, especially the public health service and politics in Germany. In addition, we support partner countries in being better prepared for disease outbreaks, for example. The Robert Koch Institute is not only making an important contribution to health protection in Germany but worldwide.

This is made possible by highly motivated and highly qualified employees, modern research infrastructure, flexible institute structures, and efficient administration.
