Something About Company

IntraHealth was born in 1979 as Intrah, the Program for International Training in Health, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. From the beginning, our focus was on health workers and their role in improving the health of women and their families. IntraHealth incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization in 2003. In 2017, IntraHealth and DAI joined forces to amplify their development impact. IntraHealth is now a strategic nonprofit affiliate of DAI Global Health. IntraHealth has a staff of over 500 employees working in 37 countries in Africa, the Americas, and Asia.

For 40 years in over 100 countries, we’ve partnered with local communities to make sure health workers are present where they’re needed most, ready to do the job, connected to the technology they need, and safe to do their very best work.

At IntraHealth, we know that health care is about people—not just those who need it, but those who deliver it.

The people who provide health care need to feel safe at work. They need training that’s up to date. And they need access to the supplies, equipment, and technology that will help them reach even the most remote and vulnerable communities in a fast-changing world.

Our programs span four decades and over 100 countries. And every year, the longstanding relationships we’ve built with government agencies, private-sector partners, and members of civil society become stronger and more effective.

Our programs are designed with a deep understanding of and appreciation for the context of human rights, gender equality and discrimination, economic empowerment, and changing populations.

We listen, analyze, and collaborate to develop the most effective programs in the industry—always specific to their contexts and relevant to the people we serve.
