I am an experienced midwife and researcher completing my MSc Global Health and Development at UCL. I am passionate about improving maternal health outcomes in LMIC through programme/intervention implementation and M&E.
Myself Dr.Amol Shivdas Sawant I am a postgraduate of Public Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. During these two years I have made an attempt to understand the challenges in our healthcare system and this made me sensitize enough to the healthcare structure of India. Before this, I have completed my graduation in BAMS from Nagpur.
I am working as a Surveillance research officer at NMMC Hospital, Navi Mumbai on TCV Project with WHO. This project results will help to see the high burden of typhoid fever in the younger population resulting in morbidity, mortality, and increased out of pocket expenditure for treatment. I have worked with Public, Non-Government Organizations, and private players in rural and urban settings. I am well aware of research methodologies, data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills which I learned during field projects and Work Experiences.
I have done a dissertation on Kharra(form of smokeless tobacco prevalent in Vidarbha region) consumption and factors associated with attempts to quit Kharra among college students in Nagpur. This Research work helps to understand the reasons for the initiation of kharra use, Lack of awareness of adverse health effects because of kharra consumption, difficulties face due to quitting attempts.
During my Rural internship, I have completed a project on breastfeeding practices of mothers in the rural areas of Chandrapur which helps me to understand Maternal and child health issues. I am conversant with Microsoft suite and other data analysis software such as SPSS. Through the course curriculum and work Experience, I got the opportunity to sharpen my skills in project management, team management, data analysis, and presentation skills.
What I can offer is innovative thinking, action-oriented approach, honesty, and compassion along with the inclination to social issues.

I am currently supporting COVID-19 data team using SORMAS for data management, analysis, triangulation and harmonization of data for appropriate action in Kwara State, I also have experience in Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and Polio Eradication Initiative as State Technical Facilitator during National Immunization Plus Days), LQAS Surveyor, Interviewer (Surveillance officer), Independent Monitor during Immunization Plus Days.
I currently serve as a State Data Manager (SDM) with Agreement base on Performance (APW) contract on data management at WHO Kwara State Office on Surveillance, Routine Immunization and Supplemental Immunization Activities 2012 till 31st of March 2020.
