Rose is a final-year PhD candidate at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at ANU. Her research explores the role of acceptability evaluations in water, sanitation and hygiene intervention implementation in low-resource settings, with aims to promote the inclusion of recipient communities in the intervention design and implementation process.
Her doctoral field work involved installing Spataps (a mobile handwashing device) in rural Fijian communities and conducting acceptability evaluations throughout 2022. She researched, designed and collected baseline quantitative surveys and follow-up qualitative focus group discussions, conducted data analysis and operationalised the project with partners at the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Fiji.
Rose is also experienced in conducting rapid and systematic evidence reviews across a range of topics in population health. She has worked with the ANU PFAS Health Study team, consulted to the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership on time-series methods, and recently worked as an ANU representative with CSIRO on developing a methodology for quantifying the health impacts of loss-of energy supply. She has also guest lectured on community research and acceptability in health promotion courses and tutored in veterinary science, population health and statistics.
During her university time Rose has received a place on the Dean's list of academic excellence (University of Sydney 2017), Chancellor's letter of commendation (ANU 2019), First Class Honours (ANU 2019) and was selected as ANU's online participant for the Global Young Scientist Summit (January 2023).
Aside from her research and teaching experience Rose has worked in administration, veterinary clinical settings, hospitality, retail and government services.
